Received 9 Likes on 9 Posts. 2013 5.0 long crank to start. It was hit and miss when the weather was warmer but now that it regularly below 40 my '13 with the 5.0 is cranking for an extended amount of time whenever I start it cold (over night, or multiple hours sitting).

Sometimes, RANDOMLY, it takes up to 4 or 5 seconds to turn over; it cranks and cranks (STRONG) but sounds like it's not getting enough gas. If I turn the key off and immediately try to start it again, BLAM, half a second and it's purring like a kitten. So I RESEARCHED.

Long time to start is a fuel issue as mentioned. Generally either pressure regulator, clogged injector, filter or bad pump. Of course if it was a clogged injector you'd likely see runnability issues, this includes stuck open injectors (which would flood the engine after awhile with it off, causing hard starting). My money is on a bad fuel pump.
